Peter & Patricia
Patricia was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2010. This film follows her journey with Parkinson's, alongside her husband and carer Peter.
The film highlights the work of Britten Pears Arts and their community programme Skylarks in Suffolk. Skylarks groups use techniques based on years of research to help those with Parkinson’s to maintain or improve their psychological and physical wellbeing through taking part in regular singing activities.
This short film featured in The Suffolk Connection, a special event at The Riverside in October 2024.
Wool
Bound by his rules, she begins to unravel.
In a house stood still in time, a woman knits, unaware her husband keeps her where he wants her - stuck at home, she has no say. All must go his way.
But when he sets her one knitting project too many she is gripped by an urge to make a bid for freedom.
Wool screened at Suffolk Shorts in 2022.
Dream Big
Directed and written by Pip Swallow, and officially selected in 2023 to screen as part of our East Anglian showcase, Dream Big is now available to watch.
Miranda is a woman who has dedicated herself to her job but when the interview day for a big promotion comes up, she is overlooked in favour of a man who is everything she's not. Returning home, she takes refuge in her hobby, her model railway. Fuelled by anger she paints a figure to resemble the man who pipped her to the post and maniacally runs over him with a tiny train.
VIA[DOLO]
A thought-provoking independent thriller that touches the depths of the human soul, a mesmerising narrative that explores the complexities of life.
This short film features a compelling performance from Lily Streames, and an evocative soundtrack by Rorquals, and Director Dan Keeble draws influences from the films of Yorgos Lanthimos, David Lynch, Andrea Arnold and Charlie Kaufman.
VIA[DOLO] was Officially Selected for the East Anglian programme in 2022 and Dan Keeble joined us on stage for a Q&A.
BIG EARS
Our East Anglian Award winner in 2022 was directed by Sam Baron, who has become a regular contributor to Suffolk Shorts. BIG EARS stars Amit Shah (The Witcher, Happy Valley & Crashing) who delivers an emotional performance as struggling actor and part-time shopkeeper Kaan.
When he finds a lump on his testicle, he is forced to confront his life choices and his relationships, with his friend played by Mark Weinman (I May Destroy You) and his love Interest played by Amy Green. maniacally runs over him with a tiny train.

In 2019 we screened Sylvia, by producer/director team Rachel and Richard Prendergast as part of our specially curated event at First Light Festival.
As a family embarks on a road trip in their car, which the children have named “Sylvia’ their seemingly normal journey turns out to be something else entirely.

MANTARO
A short psychological thriller with elements of science-fiction, Mantaro is the story of Alex, a young woman who discovers there's a sinister side to a brand-new omniscient delivery service she signs up for.
MANTARO was very popular with our audience at the Student Short film screening in 2022, and it was wonderful to welcome almost the whole team to The Riverside.
